Microneedling in Norwich
Microneedling, also known as dermarolling/derma pen or collagen induction therapy (CIT), is an increasingly popular skin renewal technique. It restores the healthy, youthful appearance of your skin by encouraging the skin’s natural collagen and elastin to regenerate. It can help improve the texture of your skin, reduce large pores, soften acne scarring and smooth wrinkles and lines. It is also said to be useful in dramatically increasing absorption of topically applied skin preparations.
A high quality microneedling device is rolled over the skin to create thousands of tiny contact points. Combined with the use of specific serums, your body’s natural healing process rejuvenates and repairs the skin for a smoother appearance. The result is stronger, firmer and younger looking skin. It is suitable for all skin types (although it should not be used whilst acne is still active).
This is a great, safe treatment if you’ve tried facials and chemical peels and are looking for more enhanced results.
Which conditions can be treated with microneedling?
Dermarolling has proven to be effective on all areas of the body, but is particularly suited to the face, neck and décolletage. It can help treat a number of skin complaints including:
- Acne scars
- Ageing and sun damaged skin
- Facial and décolletage lines and wrinkles
- Stretch marks
- Uneven skin
- Dull skin
About our microneedling treatment
This includes a consultation with Annie in our clinic just outside Norwich. We will discuss what you are concerned about and the results you are looking for. We will take your medical history and ask you to sign a patient consent form.
Your treatment will take around 1 hour.
After your treatment, your skin will be red and flushed in appearance. Your skin may feel tight and mildly sensitive to the touch. This will usually settle within 12 hours. However, this is a more gentle treatment than a skin peel, meaning healing time is much shorter. After 3 days three is barely any evidence that the procedure has taken place. It is important that you continue to wear a high SPF on the area treated to avoid sun damage.
Real improvements can be seen from 6 – 12 weeks following treatment. Results will continue to improve for up to a year or more.
You may wish to complement this treatment using your own titanium microneedling roller at home. Annie will devise a tailored regime with you.
A specific serum, carefully selected for you, is applied to the skin. Option include:
GLOW – for pigmented skin, photo-damaged with pigmentation problems, dehydration, wrinkles, mimical wrinkles.
REFRESH – to address loss of tone and elasticity, dehydration, wrinkles, photodamaged skin without pigmentation problems.
TIGHT – for loss of firmness, wrinkles, loss of elasticity, dehydration, phot damaged skin without pigmentation.
HAIR ENERGY– for stimulating hair growth, stios hair loss, improves hair quality, anti-inflammation properties.
The dermaroller is then rolled over the area being treated to puncture the outermost layers of the skin. These microscopic wounds stimulate new collagen deposition, yet they will close within less than an hour causing no bruising. A recovery cream is applied, followed by a collagen boosting face mask. Finally, a high SPF cream is applied.
You may experience some mild discomfort, but this is kept to a minimum with the application of anaesthetic cream prior to treatment.
A minimum course of three treatments is recommended at 4-6 week intervals
